Unique Tufa Cast Royston Turquoise set in a Sterling Silver inlay design available in a size 9.
Tufa casting is an old technique developed by the Navajos in the late 1800s. A design is carved into tufa stone, a porous, volcanic pumice found naturally on Navajo land. Molten silver is poured into the mold. Molds only last one casting and then are no longer usable. The texture of the tufa stone is distinctive and remains on the finished piece unless polished.
Tufa cast pieces are one-of-a-kind laborious works of art.
This is a stunning hand crafted ring made and signed by renowned Navajo artisan, Kevin Yazzie who studied under award winning artisan Aaron Anderson who specializes in tufa casting sterling silver.
This ring measures approximately 1-3/16" by 7/8" face width, and is a very sturdy ring, perfect for everyday wear.
